EXPERIMENTS Uri Geller at SRI, August 4-11, 1973

OBJECTIVE

The objective of this group of experimental sessions is to verify Geller apparent paranormal perception under carefully controlled conditions and to head toward an physical and understanding of the psychological variables underlying his apparent ability.

In each of the eight of this picture drawing experimental period we conducted experiments_ In these experiments Geller from the target material either was separated by the isolation by an electrically isolated shielded room Ke provided by having the targets drawn the East Coast_ continued to work with picture drawing repea tabllity s0 that we could tasks in an effort to achieve to determine the meaningfully vary the experimental conditions effect of physical parame on the sult success in phenomena . His almost imediate response was tlat he a cylinder with noise coming out of it (He was continuously monitored by a one-way circuit.) His drawing to correspond to the target was a drum , along with a number of other cylindrical-looking objects 2 and 3 _ Figs -

The second word selected was 'bunch , and the target was 8 bunch of grapes Geller 5 immediate response was that he 'drops of water coming out of the picture_ then talked about purple circles Fínally , he said that he was quite sure that he had the picture His drewing was indeed a bunch of grapes Both the target and Geller s rendition had 24 grapes in the bunch _ 4 and Figs.

In this work the target picture is never discussed by the experimenters after the picture is or brouglt near the shielded rooin The intercom opera only from the inside of the room to the outside , except when the push-to-talk swltch is depressed on the outside of the room In our detailed examination of the shielded room and the protocol used in these experiments sensory leakage has been found , nor has any defect 1n the protocol been brought to our attentiontes

Sunday, August Geller is locked in the shielded room and the target is drawn in the experimenter's office about a half mile away . Tle target selected from the dictionary was an outline drawing of a man , which evolved through the drawing process into devil with a To start the experiment, Puthoff who was with Geller, called who was with the drewing. Geller spent almost half hour working on the drawing before producing the first of several responses Targ,
